About the Unit
The Records Division serves as a customer service point and is open 24 hours a day, seven days a week, including legal holidays. Operations are supervised by Support Services Commander Capt. Jason McDaniel.
The division is the official repository for all police and collision reports created by the Beckley Police Department. It handles data entry into the department’s records management system and processes both officer requests and public requests for information. In all, the Records Division processes and maintains nearly 23,000 cases each year.
While the primary goal of the division is to support the other divisions, a considerable share of its time is spent working directly with the public. Clerks assist citizens with information requests and provide copies of crash and criminal offense reports.
